LOCAL toy and game manufacturer, 69 Resonance, recently collaborated with 12 artists from various parts of the state to set up an art toy exhibition in Taman Areca, Jelutong.

The exhibition, which was held only for a few hours during a breezy Sunday evening, attracted a decent crowd. Most of them were parents with their children jogging and exercising at the park.

69 Resonance director Shum Jian Wei said the products were all designer toys and limited-edition collections.

“These toys are very rare and expensive.

“We thought it will be interesting to showcase the toys here to attract the attention of the children and create curiosity among them.

“As you can see, this simple exhibition managed to draw the attention of many people on a lovely Sunday evening.

“This was the main objective of this exhibition, which is to provide a platform for the people, especially the younger ones, to be exposed to such a rare toy exhibition in the outdoors.

“My appreciation goes to all the artists for agreeing to showcase their products here, as well as the state representatives for their support,” Shum told reporters during the exhibition in Taman Areca on March 27.

Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim said Penang is a state filled with a lot of talented people, hence it was important to provide such platforms for the benefit of interested individuals in the field of art.

“This is something very new for me, but I am sure it is a familiar sight for many young people,” Lim said during a brief interview session.

Meanwhile, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Lee Chun Kit said the initiative has created excitement and curiosity among the young people.

“This is a good initiative as it gives the relevant parties an outlet to express themselves,” Lee said.

Also present during the exhibition was Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng.
