LOCAL manufacturers, especially the small and medium enterprises, have been told to be brave to adopt the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0).

State Domestic and International Trade Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the potential growth of the IR4.0 was limitless.

“The IR4.0 could be the solution to so many issues concerning the manufacturing industry; issues such as the environment, health, reduction of waste, supply chain management, safety and many more.

“The manufacturing industry is shaping its own future. Conventional models are making way for greater technology.

“We have no choice but to be aggressive in adopting the IR4.0,” he said in his speech before opening the Industry 4.0 Reskilling Programme at Vangohh Eminent Hotel & Spa in Bukit Mertajam today.

Also present was Seberang Prai SME Association chairman Francis Wong.

The three-day workshop, organised by the Seberang Prai SME Association, attracted more than 100 participants.

It served as a platform to equip the local manufacturers with the essential knowledge to face the IR4.0.
