Boots, hats — and a real horse: M Summit brings the Wild, Wild West to life

THEY came dressed as cowboys and cowgirls — and why not? After all, the theme of the M Summit Group Annual Company Dinner was Wild, Wild West. Staff members happily relived the glory days of classic Western films, donning cowboy hats, leather boots, jackets and tasselled vests.

In a bold nod to the theme, a real horse was brought in for the occasion — a wild but brilliant idea that delighted guests and employees alike as they posed for photos outside the event venue, W World Restaurant. Adding to the symbolism, the celebration came just 12 days ahead of the Year of the Horse according to the Lunar calendar.

As the dinner got underway, the iconic theme song from the 1966 film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly set the tone for the evening, before Footloose cranked up the excitement by a few more decibels.

The festive spirit continued with the singing and best-dressed competitions, where contestants in cowboy and cowgirl attire showcased their talents and flair — one even donning Apache headgear. Winners were determined through live voting, with attendees scanning a QR code on their mobile phones to cast votes via a dedicated platform.

The Group’s founder and chairman, Datuk Albert Moh, and chief executive officer, Moh Wei Ren, also delivered speeches reflecting on the past, present and future direction of the company.

Wei Ren shared that the Group has achieved RM1.2 billion in total development value and aims to reach RM3.5 billion by 2035.

“This Lunar New Year is the Year of the Fire Horse. I was also born in the Year of the Horse. The horse represents speed, strength and courage. In the Year of the Horse, everything moves fast, but in the Year of the Fire Horse, things move even faster. This can lead to misunderstandings between people. To avoid this, we must communicate more clearly to ensure things move smoothly,” he said.

Albert expressed his gratitude to employees and partners for shaping M Summit into what it is today.

“I sincerely hope we will continue to walk this journey together and achieve even greater success. Last year, we celebrated 25 years of growth. Tonight, we begin the next 25 years,” he said.

While fun, singing and best-dressed competitions kept the evening lively, M Summit Group also remembered the less fortunate. Four charities — Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged, Crystal Family Home Penang, Pasukan Bomba Sukarela Lebuh Bakau, and Penang Fo Yi Haemodialysis Society — each received RM3,000.

Smiles lit up the room as nearly 250 prizes, including smart watches, hampers, tablets, electric ovens and TVs, were given away during the lucky draw.
