Bridging youths and opportunities

A YOUTH Empowerment and Community Awareness Programme has been slated for Nov 26 from 8.30am to 4.00pm to provide youths with crucial information from various governmental bodies.

Batu Kawan MP service centre director Ewe Chee Way said the programme would be held at Level 5, The TOP ballroom.

“The youths will obtain essential information from organisations and agencies such as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), and the police.

“There will be talks and seminars highlighting topics such as post-tertiary expectations, KWSP contributions, social security, career opportunities, and ways to combat commercial crimes like phone call scams,” Ewe told a press conference in Komtar today.

Ewe added that the Penang Housing Board would be sharing the latest application procedures for the state’s affordable housing schemes.

“This programme serves as a platform for youths to access valuable information, procedures, as well as incentives offered by the Government,” he said.

Padang Kota Penang Youth Committee (JBPP) chief Jason Ng shared concerns about youths falling victim to phone call scams.

“Because of that, we have decided to partner up with the police to shed light on the ways to avoid being scammed.

“Procedures to undertake litigation against scammers will also be shared by lawyer Fong Sau Choun during the programme,” Ng said.

Ewe expressed hope that the programme would benefit the youths, especially post-graduation, empowering them to contribute to realising the Penang2030 vision.
