MACHANG Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon has urged the Penang government to address severe traffic congestion plaguing the Jalan Kulim and Jalan Rozhan areas within his constituency.

Raising the matter during the Penang State Legislative Assembly sitting today, Lee (PH–Machang Bubuk) said the traffic issues there have long been a source of frustration not only for residents of Machang Bubuk but also for commuters from neighbouring areas who rely on these routes daily.

While the state government has thus far focused on widening the existing roads, Lee proposed exploring alternative solutions, such as the construction of a bypass to divert traffic from heavily congested zones.

He noted that the estimated cost for land acquisition in the Jalan Kulim widening project is RM100 million, while construction costs are projected at RM65 million.

Given the scale of the investment, Lee suggested the state consider setting up a dedicated infrastructure fund to support traffic decongestion efforts that directly benefit the public.
