THE long-awaited Mutiara Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line project is on track to begin in the third quarter of 2025, according to recent statements from government officials.
Expressing optimism over the project’s progress, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said he was the most eager to see the Mutiara LRT Line project get underway.
“However, as with any major infrastructure initiative, various matters, including procedural, technical, and financial aspects must first be resolved.
“Transport Minister Anthony Loke had earlier announced that the project is targeted to commence in the third quarter of 2025, a timeline that relevant agencies are now working diligently to meet.
“We are working towards that target,” Chow added, affirming the government’s commitment to addressing any remaining hurdles and ensuring that the project proceeds as planned.
The Mutiara LRT Line is a key component of Penang’s Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP), aimed at enhancing connectivity, reducing congestion, and promoting sustainable urban mobility in the state.
