A TOTAL of 51 families from the B40 group in the Seri Delima constituency have been selected to receive aid in the form of adult diapers and milk products under the Jalinan Kasih (Bond of Love) programme initiated by the Seri Delima service centre.

In a simple presentation ceremony today, Seri Delima assemblywoman Connie Tan Hooi Peng handed over the items to 13 families who were present at her service centre in Lintang Delima 6, Island Glades.

Tan said the recipients, aged between 24 and 93, comprised 32 Malays, 11 Indians, and eight Chinese.

“This initiative is aimed at easing the burden of families whose members are suffering from illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, or are bedridden,” she said.

She expressed her gratitude to Hunza Group for sponsoring the aid worth approximately RM30,000 for the second consecutive year.

Last year, Hunza Group, in collaboration with Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, contributed items worth about RM26,000 to assist 56 families.

Pauline Lim, who brought her 90-year-old wheelchair-bound mother Ng Chin Choo to the service centre, thanked Tan for continuing the programme.

“We’re very grateful for her assistance. My mother suffered a stroke in 2017, and we’ve been receiving help for several years now. YB Connie Tan has been serving the residents here very well, continuing the good work of her predecessor, YB Syerleena,” Lim said.
