“This initiative can lead to a cleaner system and benefit the local community.

“The concept of a circular economy offers a transformative approach to waste management, one that not only mitigates environmental impact but also unlocks economic opportunities.

“This marks a pivotal moment in Malaysia’s journey towards a circular economy,” said Chow during the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) Beacon Conference Asia 2024 dinner at Mercury Hotel in Tanjung Bungah.

Chow conveyed his appreciation to ISWA, the Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM), the Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS), and the Indonesia Solid Waste Association (InSWA) for their dedicated efforts.

Chow added Malaysia has taken proactive steps to seize opportunities in embracing the circular economy concept.

WMAM chairman Ho De Leong expressed hope for meaningful discussions and idea exchange among the conference attendees.
