Disability is no barrier to success

KENZON Yeoh is taking steps to make his dreams come true.

Despite being visually impaired since birth, Yeoh, 23, did not see it as a barrier to his success.

In 2018, he was an SPM top student among 114 candidates in his school, SMK Georgetown. He scored 5A+ and 2A- and his success story was celebrated by the Penang government. He was awarded RM500 by the state government in March 2018.

Yeoh pursued and completed his Diploma in Computer Science at Disted College Penang in 2021 and it was understood that he would be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Curtin University Malaysia in Sarawak.

Penang Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Chong Eng met Yeoh and his parents recently and she wished Yeoh all the best in his endeavours.

Yeoh told Chong Eng that he wanted to do more to help other people like him by studying computer science.

On her Facebook page, Chong Eng posted that Yeoh is an icon of hope for children born with disability.

“He will be paving the way for the blind in the future,” Chong Eng said.
