PENANG is set to strengthen its position as one of Asia’s most enchanting destinations for pre-wedding photography, destination weddings, romantic getaways and experiential lifestyle tourism with the official launch of the ‘Fall for Penang’ campaign today.
The special campaign is spearheaded by Penang Global Tourism (PGT) in collaboration with the Penang Wedding Professionals Association (PWPA) and HK Express Airways (HK Express) as the official airline partner, with a strong focus on attracting visitors from the Hong Kong and Macau markets.
More than just a tourism campaign, Fall for Penang embodies the emotional connection visitors experience when discovering the state, a destination where heritage, culture, gastronomy, nature, art, beaches and lifestyle experiences blend seamlessly into a unique and memorable journey.
As part of the initiative, Hong Kong key opinion leaders (KOLs) Jeffrey Fok Chon Pong and Cherine Chiu Cheuk Lam will embark on a five-day, four-night content creation journey across Penang.
Through cinematic storytelling and pre-wedding photography, the campaign will spotlight Penang’s Unesco World Heritage streets, scenic coastlines, multicultural charm, vibrant culinary landscape, diverse attractions, luxury hospitality offerings and picturesque romantic settings to audiences in Hong Kong, Macau and beyond.
The initiative also shines a spotlight on the growing strength and creativity of Penang’s local wedding and tourism ecosystem. Throughout the KOLs’ stay, collaborations will involve local photographers, videographers, bridal houses, make-up artists, floral stylists, fashion stylists and wedding planners, further showcasing the depth of talent available in Penang.
Speaking during the official launch ceremony held at Soori Penang in Lebuh Aceh today, Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang, who represented Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, described the campaign as a meaningful collaboration between PGT, PWPA and HK Express.

“Together, we aim to position Penang as one of Asia’s most charming destinations for pre-wedding photography, destination weddings, romantic getaways and experiential lifestyle tourism.
“The name Fall for Penang reflects more than romance alone. It represents the emotional connection visitors experience when they discover Penang, a destination where heritage, culture, food, art, nature and lifestyle come together beautifully.
“We are also proud that this campaign highlights the strength and creativity of the global wedding and tourism industry.
“From photographers and videographers to bridal houses, make-up artists, stylists and wedding planners, this initiative showcases the professionalism and talent that Penang has to offer international audiences,” he said.
Ng added that the collaboration would further strengthen tourism ties and people-to-people connections between Penang, Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, with HK Express serving as a vital gateway linking the destinations.
“As Penang continues to evolve, we are not only promoting ourselves as a heritage tourism destination, but also as a sophisticated lifestyle destination for couples, families and discerning travellers seeking meaningful and personalised experiences,” he added.
Meanwhile, PWPA president Dr Bryan Chew said the association was honoured to support the initiative in positioning Penang as a premier destination for weddings, romance, culture and lifestyle experiences for the Hong Kong and Macau markets.

“One of PWPA’s core pillars is collaboration and industry growth. We strongly believe that when tourism, hospitality and wedding industry players come together with a shared vision, we can create stronger experiences and greater opportunities for Penang as a whole.
“Penang is more than just a beautiful destination. It is a place filled with heritage, creativity, diversity and genuine hospitality. Through this campaign, we hope more visitors and couples will truly experience the unique charm and emotional connection that Penang has to offer,” he said.
Also present at the ceremony were PGT chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan and Lone Pine Hotel general manager Datuk Gulab Mahatam Rai.
