Free haircut for 600 students in Jelutong

WITH about two weeks remaining before schools reopen, 600 students from the Jelutong parliamentary constituency in Penang are getting free haircuts at three saloons.

Launching the free haircut programme at the Aaniigo Hair Saloon in Jelutong today, Jelutong MP R.S.N. Rayer and Sungai Pinang assembly member Lim Siew Khim were pleased to see the first batch of boys getting their shave.

Westlands’ Secondary School student Mohd Amir Ashraf, 13, smiles as Rayer (centre) and Lim speak with him during a free haircut session at the Aaniigo Hair Saloon in Jelutong. With them are service centre team members and other young children taking part in the programme.

Rayer said 200 students each from the three state constituencies of Datok Keramat, Sungai Pinang and Batu Lancang that make up the Jelutong parliamentary constituency have received haircut vouchers.

They can also have their haircut at the Aaniigo branch in Sungai Pinang or the Great Everest Hair Saloon in Datok Keramat.

“This is the first time we are organising a free haircut programme for Jelutong since I became its MP. It’s for deserving students,” said Rayer.

Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo and Batu Lancang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong were however unable to join the launch due to their respective commitment elsewhere. But present with Rayer and Lim were service centre team members S. Eswaran (Sungai Pinang), G. Heman (Batu Lanchang) and M. Prasad (Datok Keramat).

The students can walk in to have their haircut from today until Dec 30.
