PENANG Adventist Hospital today closed the curtains on its month-long fundraising campaign, ‘100 Acts of Kindness,’ after successfully raising RM172,713 for its Dr J Earl Gardner Fund.

Held from Jan 12, 2023, to Jan 12 this year, the campaign aimed to provide crucial assistance to needy patients suffering from chronic illness and in need of major surgeries.

The hospital was learnt to have surpassed its initial target of RM100,000.

The fundraiser required donors to contribute a minimum of RM100 into a vintage post box prominently featured in the hospital’s main foyer, symbolising a time capsule that connects the hospital’s history with its bright future ahead.

PAH chief executive officer Albin Phua said the vintage post box beautifully encapsulates the hospital’s unwavering commitment to the community – and enduring legacy passed down through a century of service.

“The post box, a poignant metaphor echoing through time, signifies that from this hospital’s inception until now, our mission remains unchanged, which is to serve the community with passion.

“The impact of this fundraising effort extends far beyond this wall.

“This meaningful contribution will provide crucial support for needy patients requiring major surgeries, making a tangible difference in their lives,” Phua said in his speech during the closing ceremony of the ‘100 Acts of Kindness’ fundraising campaign at PAH today.

Meanwhile, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo Sze Zeng was full of praise for PAH for always being a beacon of hope, healing, and kindness for a century to its patients.

He went on to extend his deepest gratitude to the entire PAH family, from its doctors, administrators, nurses, and other staff, while also recalling a special sentiment he shared with the hospital when he was born there some four decades ago.

Among others present during the event were Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid, Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang and PAH Group president Ronald Koh.
