A FESTIVE horse sculpture titled “Galloping Fortune, Gathering Wealth and Blessings” was officially unveiled at the Air Itam roundabout in conjunction with the upcoming Lunar New Year next week, adding a vibrant and auspicious landmark to the community.
Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng, who officiated the unveiling, said the installation symbolises positive values and hopes for prosperity, unity and progress for the people.
“This sculpture is not just a New Year decoration, but a symbol of perseverance, integrity and forward momentum. It reflects our shared aspiration for economic vitality, social harmony and stronger community bonds in Air Itam,” he said.
The sculpture features a white horse as its main element, representing diligence, loyalty, perseverance and a positive spirit of advancement.
The white horse also signifies purity and goodwill, symbolising the strengthening of social ties, business opportunities and harmonious community relations.

On both sides of the horse are four hanging money pouches, symbolising abundant wealth from all directions. The right side of the sculpture bears the phrase “Smooth Progress in All Matters”, while the left reads “Instant Prosperity”, conveying wishes for economic vibrancy and well-being for the people.
The money pouches are rendered in gold, tied with orange ribbons, symbolising stability, lasting wealth and sustained returns.
A decorative knot on the horse’s forehead represents unity, blessings and close community ties, while gold accents on the body symbolise effort, perseverance and the drive to turn challenges into achievements.
Ng said the installation reflects the spirit of community-building and the importance of staying true to the original intention of serving the people.
Our priority is to inject positive energy into the community, stimulate local economic activity and foster trust and unity as we move forward together towards a better future,” he added.
The sculpture of the horse will be placed at the roundabout landmark until Chinese New Year festival ends.
Also attended the ceremony were Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Visvenathan Tangavello, and Penang Hill Corporation general manager Datuk Cheok Lay Leng.
