PENANG is set to glow once again as the much-anticipated Glo-Walk X marks its 10th edition this year on Oct 11 at 1st Avenue Mall, hosted by Tech Dome Penang.

Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, who officiated at the press conference this morning, congratulated the organisers for reaching the milestone, calling it “a celebration of commitment, vision and impact.”

“It is truly an honour and pleasure for me to be here this morning at the press conference for Glo-Walk X, hosted by Tech Dome Penang.

“This is not just a celebration of a decade-long event, but a celebration of commitment, vision and impact,” he said.

Jagdeep also extended his appreciation to the sponsors and partners of Glo-Walk X, whose strong support has sustained the event and boosted Tech Dome’s STEM outreach programmes, benefitting countless students across Penang and beyond.

Platinum sponsors this year include Flex, Globetronics and Greatech, alongside Gold sponsors Projet, Wiitrac Elevator and A2 Automation, and Silver sponsors Kiwanis Penang Central, GSH Precision, Pentamaster, VAT, Abbott and ATS.

Unlike typical fun runs, Glo-Walk blends science, health, creativity and community engagement, attracting families, students, corporate teams and the wider public.

This year’s theme takes on an interstellar twist, featuring extraterrestrial life, outer space and science fiction, designed to spark excitement in young people about STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

“What a fun and inspiring way to get people, especially young ones, excited about STEM,” Jagdeep remarked, noting that the event aligns closely with the Penang2030 vision of creating a Family-Focused, Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation.

The walk will also feature a Cosmic Cosplay Competition, welcoming participants from Penang and beyond to showcase creativity around the theme of space and science fiction.

Adding further encouragement, the Penang Education Department (JPN) has endorsed the walk, allowing students who participate to receive PAJSK points.

Jagdeep called on more companies, schools, clubs and members of the public to join the event.

“Let us walk not just for fun, but to support a greater purpose, to invest in the future of our children, to support science education and to keep the spirit of community glowing brightly,” he said.

The state government looks forward to celebrating the milestone with the community as Penang walks, glows and grows together.
