In these hot scorching days, what better way than to cool down with nature’s gift to mankind – coconut?
Coconuts from Joez arrive fresh from the coconut plantation in Bagan Datoh in Perak by lorries every two days.

Joez, or Joel Jeyachandran Mazivanan, 28, took the ubiquitous coconut to a whole new level when he packaged his family’s secret technique of turning fresh coconut into refreshing, cold coconut jelly.

Joez’s Penang Coconut Jelly carries the Penang trademark of good and unique foods, known worldwide.

“We use the pasteurising process to make the coconut jelly in our factory in Perak. My father learned the technique from Thailand and five years ago, we started to market the coconut jelly. Two years ago, I added another new product which is the coconut shake with black pearls,” Joez told Buletin Mutiara while busy handling the stream of thirsty customers at his shop along Jalan Datuk Keramat.

“Coconut shake has been around but our coconut shake with black pearls is the first,” Joez pointed out while his worker was busy adding pure coconut water, fresh coconut flesh, evaporated milk and a dollop of ice-cream and black pearls to make the creamy shake.

Joez graduated from KDU College in Business Admininistration and he is putting his business skills to good use.
In the pipeline are plans to franchise Joez’s coconut jelly so that Malaysians can grab a Penang coconut jelly from kiosks at shopping malls and other places.
Joez is also doing research and hope to export the coconut jelly to countries like Hong Kong and Singapore.

With the current hot weather, the demand for coconut water has increased tremendously.
Joez said the best coconut is one that is18 days old where the flesh is easily scooped up with a spoon.
“The coconut water has detoxification properties and is cooling for the body in this hot weather,” Joez said.
