THE Datok Keramat state constituency service centre will host a community health initiative, the Healthy Hearts, Stronger Community Health Camp, on Sept 7 (Sunday) at Padang Taman Free School.
The half-day programme, held in collaboration with Northern Heart Hospital (NHH) Penang and the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) Taman Free School, will run from 8.30am to 12pm.
Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, who is also the Datok Keramat assemblyman, said the event is aimed at encouraging early detection, prevention, and overall health awareness among the community.
“A wide range of activities will be available, including a Zumba session by the Healthy Workout Group, blood glucose and blood pressure checks, general health consultations by medical officers, dietary advice from dietitians, as well as posture and flexibility screenings by TAGS Chiropractic & Rehabilitation,” he said at a press conference in Komtar today.
Jagdeep also expressed his appreciation to the partners involved.
“I would like to thank the Northern Heart Hospital team, TAGS Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, and MPKK Taman Free School for their strong support in making this event possible.
“NHH Penang is going beyond hospital walls by reaching out to the community, promoting prevention and awareness.
“This reflects the true spirit of caring for the community,” he said.
Also present at the press conference were NHH Penang marketing and communications head Teyressa Lee Huay Wen, NHH Penang senior marketing communications executive Raihan Qistina Rosli and NHH Penang marketing and communications executive Imad Hassan.
Jagdeep also announced another community programme in Datok Keramat, organised by MPKK Datok Keramat, on Sept 6 (Saturday) at Lorong Kulit.
“It will feature participation from various state and federal agencies such as the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Penang, Penang Island City Council (MBPP), Northeast District and Land Office, Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Wakaf Pulau Pinang, Rapid Penang, Zakat Pulau Pinang, and others.
“The programme will be held from 7am to 1pm,” he added.
