LOOKING for great, delicious and authentic Japanese food in Penang?

If yes, the Miraku Japanese Restaurant at G Hotel Gurney in George Town is the right place for you.

Miraku is a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysian conglomerate and Bursa Malaysia main market-listed, Texchem Resources Bhd (Texchem) under the restaurant division.

The fine dining restaurant just has its official reopening ceremony today and was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Texchem executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Konishi Fumihiko said Miraku has been bringing the best of Japanese cuisine to Malaysia for the past 16 years.

“We are delighted to announce the restaurant’s grand reopening at G Hotel Gurney in Penang following an extensive renovation.

“Our team has worked tirelessly to create a refined and authentic Japanese dining experience that exceeds expectations.

“Miraku, meaning ‘a great place for customers to enjoy great food,’ holds true to its name as we continue to provide an exceptional Japanese dining experience,” Konishi said in his speech during the reopening ceremony.

Konishi said at Miraku, the essence of Japanese cooking takes centre stage, emphasising the utmost priority on quality and freshness of produce.

“With an outstanding team of experienced chefs, Miraku prides itself on sourcing the freshest ingredients flown in from Japan and around the world, ensuring an unparalleled dining experience for even the most discerning food connoisseurs,” he said.

Konishi added that from the moment guests step through their doors, they will be transported to the culinary wonders of Japan.

He said more excitingly, Miraku now features an authentic teppanyaki counter in addition to their sushi counter, both helmed by chefs from Japan.

With this interactive dining experience, he said guests could now enjoy not only the exquisite flavors but also the excitement of watching their meal being masterfully prepared in front of them.

Chow congratulated Texchem Resources Berhad for the reopening of Miraku Japanese Restaurant.

“It is said that the easiest way to win hearts and minds is through food.

“Given Malaysia’s beautiful diversity, especially a state like Penang which is flavoured by the many culinary influences from all over the world, it is no surprise that Japanese cuisine has become a familiar taste for our local palate.

“Indeed, we can catch our youngsters easily at home with food like sushi, sashimi, tempura and ramen just as we hope our Japanese friends here are used to Nasi Kandar and Asam Laksa,” he said.

Chow also praised Konishi for becoming the driving force in introducing many Japanese restaurant brands in Malaysia.

“I believe it is almost impossible to visit any mall here without seeing names like Sushi King, Hoshino Coffee and Doutor Coffee around the corner.

“On this note, I am sure many of us are truly delighted that Miraku, a familiar and beloved name for Japanese fine dining in Penang since it opened its door in 2007, has returned to the G Hotel Gurney.

“Also, based on Miraku’s brand new look that includes new teppanyaki counters, I am confident that this exciting new chapter will bring many more successes.”

Also present during the grand reopening ceremony were Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim and Japanese deputy consul-general in Penang Kuroe Kosuke.
