Jom! Experience Penang with Shopee

THE Penang Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) has collaborated with Shopee Malaysia to revive the state’s tourism and support the local industry players.

In a joint partnership with Shopee Malaysia, a campaign named Jom! Experience Penang has been introduced as part of the state’s recovery plan, especially when Penang has moved into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said Shopee users can now access the Jom! Experience Penang with Shopee microsite from Nov 18 to Dec 31 this year.

“There are more than 150 packages, featuring hotels and attractions to cater to domestic travellers.

“The campaign will boast online travel packages with Penang’s travel associations such as Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA), Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA), Malaysian Inbound Chinese Association (MICA), Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA) and Association of Tourism Attractions Penang (ATAP).

“Travel agents, attractions and hotels can now take advantage of Jom! Experience Penang with Shopee platform to digitise their business and tap into new potential target customers,” he said in his speech when launching the event at The Top Komtar today.

Yeoh was optimistic that the partnership with Shopee Malaysia would enhance promotional activities via e-commerce platforms.

“We look forward to more partnerships in the future to promote tourism in maintaining Penang’s position as the jewel in the tourism crown,” he said.

Shopee Malaysia Business Development head Wong Chee Mun said his company was honoured to be part of the campaign.
