PENANG Badminton Association (PBA) president Datuk Kah Kau Kiak has announced that the 2025–2029 term will be his final tenure, following his re-election at the association’s 91st annual general meeting (AGM) recently.
Kah, who has helmed the association since 2014, expressed his gratitude to members for their continued support and trust over the years.
“Today is personally significant to me, as it marks my last time serving as president,” said the 74-year-old in his opening address. “Over the years, your encouragement and unwavering support have enabled us to steadily advance the development and legacy of badminton in Penang.”
Known for his dedication and vision, Kah has worked tirelessly to ensure that Penang continues to produce shuttlers of calibre.
With PBA’s centennial celebration scheduled for November this year, Kah is now focused on preparing a grand dinner event to honour badminton icons, as well as former and current state players who have contributed to the sport’s growth.
“2025 is a milestone year for the association as it celebrates its 100th anniversary in November. I call on all members to actively participate in the planning and execution of the centennial celebration.
“The 100th anniversary is not only a reflection of our history, but also a vision for the future. We must ensure that Penang badminton continues to grow stronger and reach even greater heights,” Kah said.
Kah expressed confidence that the newly elected PBA executive committee will be able to chart a promising course for the association as it enters its second century.
At the AGM, former PBA secretary Leong Kin Weng was elected as one of the four vice-presidents, while the secretarial post is now held by Kah’s son, Kok Cheong.
