THE resignation of Datuk Danny Law Heng Kiang from DAP is not surprising, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the Penang DAP chairman.

According to Chow, rumours had been flying around that Law, a former state executive councillor and former Batu Lancang assemblyman, had wanted to quit the party.

“He never discussed his decision with me. So, I didn’t know the reason behind his resignation.

“I can just speculate based on what was in the news but he himself knows better.

“He has made his decision, so there is nothing more to say here. But I accept his decision and thank him for his services all these years,” Chow said when asked by a reporter for his comment on Law’s resignation at a press conference in Komtar today.

Law was Batu Lancang assemblyman from 1999 to 2004 and again in 2008.

He held the seat until 2018, but was not picked as a candidate in last general election.

He was also the state exco for tourism development and culture portfolio from 2008 to 2018.

On Jan 18, Law left the party after 35 years.
