“It is now our turn to shine. We are eight months away from the most anticipated event and as we count down towards the event, each month, week and day is becoming increasingly critical.

“Thus, we have lined up some global speakers to feature in WCIT 2022, including strategic futurist Nancy Giordano, Mary-jo de Leeuw, who is a cybersecurity leader and in the Europe’s 20 most influential women in technology, and Dr Soumitra Dutta, who is the co-author of the Network Readiness Index.

“We also have Douglas Comstock, who is the deputy chief financial officer at NASA, Connected Women chief executive officer Gina Romero and Dr William Magee, who is the founder of Operation Smile that seeks to improve the lives of many underprivileged children.

“These are the first batch of speakers that we have confirmed. We are expecting to confirm many more prominent, expert and world-renowned speakers in the coming weeks,” Chow told a press conference in Komtar today.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, InvestPenang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian, and National Tech Association of Malaysia (Pikom) chairman Dr Sean Seah, who is also the deputy chairman of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (Witsa).

According to Chow, WCIT 2022 will also include the local champions from both the tech and non-tech worlds in the stellar lineup of speakers.

“Many of them are household names, tech unicorns and established business leaders,” he said.

Chow also announced Fusionex, a locally based global technology solutions provider, to be the technology partner for WCIT 2022.

“Fusionex will roll out the online platform, conference app and streaming for WCIT 2022.

“And with their past credentials of rolling out the Pikom Virtual Engagement Platform (VEP) and Witsa Global Business Exchange (GBX), I am confident that they are the ideal partner for WCIT 2022.

“Thus, I am also optimistic that WCIT 2022 will be a huge success for Penang and Malaysia,” he added.

Dr Sean said WCIT 2022 promises a power-packed three-day event which brings together a unique network of senior business executives, the ICT industry leaders, government officials and internationally recognised institutions.
