THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has reaffirmed its commitment to remain a model of excellence in governance, innovative in service delivery, and people-friendly in all its actions.
Speaking at MBSP’s sixth anniversary celebration held at its headquarters in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today, MBSP mayor Datuk Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid said this commitment is crucial in ensuring Seberang Perai’s emergence as a model city in Malaysia.

“I strongly believe that when the people feel valued and heard, they will rise and stand together with us.
“This is the key to building a progressive city which is a close cooperation between the community and the administration.
“As we celebrate our sixth anniversary as a city, I call upon everyone in Seberang Perai, from MBSP staff to the community, government agencies and the private sector.

“Let us continue to work hand in hand to make Seberang Perai a vibrant, inclusive, and people-friendly city,” he said.
Baderul reminded that today’s celebration carries a deeper meaning.
“Six years ago, on September 16, we made history when Seberang Perai was officially elevated to city status.
“Today, six years on, we stand stronger with renewed determination to make this city more sustainable, liveable and competitive.
“This day symbolises our journey, achievements, and the bold aspirations of Seberang Perai as a city we can all be proud of.
“This morning, we also launched the MBSP Santuni Komuniti Programme – a key platform to listen to the voices of the people, understand local issues, and strengthen civic awareness with focus on cleanliness, safety and harmony within our neighbourhoods,” he added.
He said that this year’s celebration is also filled with various community activities, including sports events, community sales, exhibitions, fishing competitions, colouring contests and family programmes.
Among those present were MBSP councillors Heng Yeh Shiuan, Bernard Cheen Goon Hooi and Zainuddin Mohamed.
