Medical experts to give health talks

THE Penang Chinese Church and Penang Adventist Hospital will jointly organise a five-day health programme, called ‘Diabetes Awareness, Family Health and Educational on Chinese Wisdom’, from Sept 20 to 24 (7pm – 9.30pm) at the Penang English Seventh-day Adventist Church in George Town.

Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee made the announcement at the hospital today.

He praised the church and the hospital for such an event deemed important during an era when people could get too busy with their lives that they may neglect the most important part of their living, which is their health.

“Diabetes is a chronic disease that has no cure at this moment.

“As we grow older, our bodies may not necessarily function how they used to 20 years ago.

“But we can all be healthy with early prevention and healthy living, although genetic diseases can be unavoidably inherited.

“With that, I would like to thank Penang Adventist Hospital and the Penang Chinese Church for this event that’s happening next week.

“This is one way of giving back to the community in the most appropriate manner. People still need a lot of awareness of healthy living and why it is so important in this fast-paced world,” Lee said during a brief press conference at Penang Adventist Hospital today.

The five-day event, which will be for free, will cover health talks by medical experts, 50 free blood glucose tests for the public (Tuesday to Thursday) and others.
