NEWLY appointed state executive councillor Rashidi Zinol has assured that various entrepreneurship programmes will be conducted in rural areas.

Rashidi, who oversees the Trade, Entrepreneurial Development and Rural Development portfolio, aims to equip people with the right knowledge and spur their interest to become good entrepreneurs.

“As we know, many individuals in rural areas may be unaware of the various government schemes and incentives to support entrepreneurial endeavours. Even if they do, their businesses often remain small scale and short-lived due to a lack of guidance.

Rashidi, who oversees the Trade, Entrepreneurial Development and Rural Development portfolio, aims to equip people with the right knowledge and spur their interest to become good entrepreneurs.

“This is what I want to change. I want to change their mindset by increasing awareness through initiatives like entrepreneurship carnivals and classes.

“With this, those interested in entrepreneurship will know about the schemes and incentives provided by the state government that can be used to start or expand their businesses.

“As a state executive councillor and someone with more than 30 years of business experience, I see many initiatives that could be implemented in rural areas. And I want to use my knowledge and experience in this field to help these people.

“God-willing, I am more committed than ever to ensuring all of this will happen,” Rashidi told Buletin Mutiara during an exclusive interview at his office in Komtar recently.

Rashidi was among 10 exco members who took their oath of office and oath of secrecy at Dewan Sri Pinang on Aug 16.

According to Rashidi, the entrepreneurship programme in rural areas will start as early as October this year.

Although the exact location is yet to be determined, Rashidi suggested Sungai Acheh might host the event since he is the constituency’s elected representative.

The programme will encompass a range of activities organised in collaboration with state and federal agencies.

Prominent entrepreneurs from various business backgrounds will also be invited to share their insights and inspire preparation.

Rashidi said he wants those living in the rural areas to be involved in entrepreneurship and contribute back to the community.

He considers entrepreneurship an art that requires determination and deep interest for success.

He wants to ensure that entrepreneurship programmes be organised continuously in rural areas, not once in a while, to empower aspiring entrepreneurs toward achievement.
