IT was a vibrant and joyful occasion for mothers and their children, as bonding activities brought families closer together during the Mother’s Day Celebration organised by Padang Kota Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK) recently.
Mother’s Day, celebrated globally, was observed on May 11 this year.
Madam Tan Lean Kee, the wife of the Chief Minister of Penang, who was the guest of honour at the celebration, highlighted that Penang’s continued progress is driven by the strength and resilience of the women in the state.

Tan said that Mother’s Day is more than just a date on the calendar but a heartfelt recognition of the unconditional love, sacrifices, and strength of mothers.
“Mothers who not only raise children but also serve as educators, caregivers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
“Today’s mothers wear many hats, and I deeply admire the resilience, wisdom, and unwavering spirit of each and every one of you.
“To all the mothers, you are an inspiration. Continue moving forward with confidence and courage, for every step you take shapes the future of our nation,” Tan said in her speech at the celebration held at Dewan Belia in Lebuh Acheh on May 10.
A total of 100 participants, including mothers, children, and their families, took part in the celebration.
Tan also shared an important message with mothers to cherish and love themselves, and most importantly, take care of their health.
“Thank you to Padang Kota JPWK for organising a meaningful programme that celebrates mothers and strengthens our community,” she added.
Meanwhile, Padang Kota JPWK chairman Datin Yeoh Phaik Suan said the celebration hall was fully set up by the JPWK members.
