IN an effort to smoothen the police administration and its duty to serve the public, a Penang parliamentarian today handed out five computers and five printers to the Pulau Tikus police station.

Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai said the desktops and printers, estimated at RM20,000, were meant to assist the policemen in handling administrative matters.

He said these contributions made by him would assist the station workforce during their routine duty.

The computers and printers contributed by Wong.

“We hope their productivity of recording statement from the people will be increased with these additional computers and printers.

“It also helps to speed up the waiting process,” he said in a press conference at the Pulau Tikus police station.

Also present were Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit, Bukit Bendera parliamentary constituency special assistant Koid Teng Guan and police officer-in-charge Sergeant Major B. Paramasivan.

On top of that, Wong mentioned that his parliamentary constituency, which is the biggest among others, has six police stations, a Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) base and three army camps.

On the next parliament sitting scheduled to be held in October, Wong, who is a first-term parliamentarian, said he would debate the Defence White Paper and Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) proposals.

“We are focusing on improving the force’s welfare,” he added.

Paramasivan expressed his gratitude to Wong for his effort to assist the police in the constituency.

“We are humbly grateful for the assistance provided to us,” he said.
