One Hope Charity donates medical items worth RM360,000 to aid frontliners

NON-PROFIT organisation One Hope Charity & Welfare has again stepped forward to offer its help to assist frontliners in the state.

 

Its chairman Chua Sui Hau said this was the third time the organisation had responded to the call for assistance from the Penang Health Department.

 

“We are donating a total of 508 medical items, worth RM360,000 to assist the state Health Department in their effort to provide Covid-19 vaccine to the people.

 

“This aid is to ensure the success of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme,” he said when met in Komtar today.

Among those that the organisations had pledge to donate were 30 units of vaccine transport boxes, 20 units of vital sign monitors, 58 units of medical carts, 20 units of ward screens, 12 units of oxygen cylinders, 14 units of drip poles, four units of oxygen regulators, 20 boxes of laryngeal mask airway, six units of phlegm suction machines, 40 units of stethoscopes, 84 units of digital blood pressure monitors, 50 units of non-contacted infrared thermometers, 50 units of forehead infrared thermometers and 50 units of wheelchairs.

 

Chua said the organisation had contributed some RM3.6 million last year to help fight the deadly Covid-19.

 

Penang Health Department director Datuk Dr Asmayani Khalib, its deputy director (public health) Dr Rafidah Md Noor and senior chief assistant director Dr Farzaana Adam symbolically received the medical items from Chua and One Hope Charity & Welfare adviser Datuk Seri R. Arunasalam.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who witnessed the auspicious handover ceremony, lauded One Hope Charity & Welfare for being one of the most active and efficient organisations in providing help to the needy.

 

“Back in November last year, the organisation played an important role in setting up the low-risk Covid-19 centre at the Balik Pulau Sports Complex. Hundreds of volunteers were gathered to help in the setup of 450 beds at the centre.

 

“The organisation does not hesitate to step forward and help those who are in need,” Chow said, thanking the organisation for its generous assistance.
