OVER 100 companies and institutions will participate in the inaugural AI Horizon 2025, where the public is invited to experience the latest in artificial intelligence (AI) at the Setia SPICE Arena on Aug 8 and 9.
Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo said the event, initiated by the Penang State Government and organised by Tech Dome Penang, is strongly supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), Penang Island City Council (MBPP), state Education Department, and Penang STEM. Buletin Mutiara is the official media partner.
“This event also reflects strong synergy between the state and federal governments, industry players, and educational institutions, all united to strengthen national awareness, develop talent, and enhance readiness in the AI field,” he said at a press conference in Komtar today.
“We are proud to have over 100 companies and institutions participating, making AI Horizon one of the largest and most influential AI events in Malaysia.”

He added that AI Horizon 2025 is expected to be a key catalyst in accelerating AI talent development, in line with the national digital agenda and Penang’s aspiration to become a leading regional hub for technology and innovation.
Jagdeep also expressed gratitude to the event’s main sponsors: Micron Technology (platinum sponsor); Jabil and NationGate (gold sponsors); and Intel, Elliance, A2 Automation, and eCloudValley (silver sponsors).
He explained that AI Horizon 2025 will focus on three main pillars, creating a holistic platform that connects technology, education, and inspiration.
1. Industry AI & Application Expo
Over 50 local and international companies will participate in an open exhibition showcasing advanced AI technologies and real-world applications. The expo aims to engage students, families, businesses, and the community, making AI accessible to all.
2. AI Conference
A two-day conference will feature over 25 speakers from Malaysia, Singapore, and China, covering topics including national AI strategies, cybersecurity, automation, agriculture, and education. The conference will include keynote sessions, panel discussions, and in-depth presentations on the latest AI innovations.
3. AI Genius Competitions
These competitions, open to students and young engineers, feature five categories, including coding challenges, generative AI videos, and social impact projects. Winners will have the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the Intel AI Global Impact Festival, stepping onto the international stage.
Jagdeep emphasised that Penang aspires to be recognised not just as the “Silicon Valley of the East,” but as the “Silicon Valley of Talent,” building a sustainable foundation of skills and innovation for Malaysia’s future.
“Many people know Penang is the second smallest state in Malaysia, yet we are among the highest contributors of tax revenue to the Federal Government, about RM7 billion annually.
“We do not want to be recognised only for our infrastructure but also for our talent and skills,” he stressed.
He also underlined the importance of the younger generation in sustaining Penang’s progress in science and technology.
“Let us work together towards a smart, inclusive AI future led by Malaysia,” Jagdeep said.
