THE Pearl One Touch Penang mobile application has been upgraded to version 2.0, introducing several new features aimed at improving user experience and accessibility.
First launched by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) in April 2023, the app is operated by ManagePay Services Sdn Bhd as part of MBPP’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.
MBPP secretary Cheong Chee Hong said the new version offers a more user-friendly interface, enhanced UI/UX elements, and smoother navigation to simplify daily tasks.

“The user experience has been further refined to make daily transactions faster and more seamless.
“Among the key new features are the integration of Penang Smart Parking (PSP), the addition of the ChargeSini option for electric vehicle users, and a public toilet locator function to help users access nearby facilities.

“With these features, users no longer need to rely on multiple platforms or apps, as everything is now available on a single platform,” he said in his speech before the launch, officiated by Penang Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye at Gat Lebuh China today.
Also present were MBPP councillors Benji Ang Ming Quan and Nicholas Theng Jie Wey, along with ManagePay Services Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Chew Chee Seng.
Cheong highlighted that the Pearl One Touch Penang app represents MBPP’s success in digital transformation.
“This app is highly convenient, especially for Penang residents, as it provides access to more than 100 online MBPP services in one platform,” he added.
He also announced that since its launch, the app has recorded over 41,000 downloads with transactions exceeding RM11.5 million, reflecting strong public support.
“With these new improvements, MBPP is confident that access to city services will become even more comprehensive and convenient,” Cheong said.
Meanwhile, H’ng praised MBPP and ManagePay Services for their continued commitment to developing the Pearl One Touch Penang app.

“I understand that the development of version 2.0 was no simple task. It required detailed user requirement studies, testing sessions, feedback collection, and continuous enhancements.
“These efforts were carried out meticulously to ensure the app meets the needs of the people.
“This reflects MBPP’s determination to work hand in hand with the Penang government in realising the Penang2030 vision of becoming a green, smart, safe, and livable state,” he said.
