A TOTAL of 41 Penang badminton players received incentives from the Penang Badminton Association (PBA) as a token of appreciation for their significant contributions  to the state’s achievement in their sport.

PBA held an appreciation dinner for the shuttlers at the Penang Golf Resort in Bukit Jambul on Dec 28 which had Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee as the guest of honour.

Soon, during his speech, conveyed his thanks to the association for their tremendous support in grooming the players and the successes they have brought to the state.

“PBA is one of the active associations in Penang. They have put in great effort in  taking the badminton movement to greater heights,” Soon said at the appreciation dinner.

“I hope other sports associations in Penang can take PBA as a role model in developing their respective sports .

“On top of that, I would like to suggest all the agencies and associations in the state to embrace the CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) policy which is being practised by the Penang government in its administration.

“The policy has brought betterment to the state, so by upholding CAT principles in your management and development programmes,  the selection of players, financial matters as well as  the competition format, it will definitely bring lots of improvement to the associations.”

The total sum of incentives contributed by the PBA was RM 41,770 and this would serve as a motivation for the players to  keep striving for the best.

Also present at the dinner were PBA president Kah Kau Kiak and the committee members.
