SPORTS scientist and chiropractor Ch’ng Tian Ying is proudly flying the flag for Penang and Malaysia at the World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.
She is one of 49 sports chiropractors worldwide selected by the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) to serve at the Games’ from Aug 7 to 17. Out of three Malaysian representatives, Tian Ying is the sole participant from Penang.
Her appointment highlights Malaysia’s growing presence in the international sports medicine field.
Tian Ying holds a Master of Sport and Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) from Victoria University, as well as double Bachelor’s degrees in Health Science (with distinction) and Applied Science (Chiropractic) (with distinction) from RMIT University, Australia. In addition, she has an International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic Graduate Award (ICSC) from FICS. She also earned the International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic (ICSC) from FICS and was awarded the Sport Chiropractic Graduate Award by RMIT for her outstanding academic and clinical achievements.
At the ongoing Games, Tian Ying is providing sports chiropractic care to athletes competing in events such as floorball and water sports, focusing on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation.

Fluent in several languages, including English, Malay, Chinese, and Spanish, Tian Ying personifies the spirit of cross-cultural collaboration that defines the international sports scene.
“The World Games is a global multi-sport event featuring about 34 sports and attracting over 4,000 athletes from more than 100 countries, showcasing the pinnacle of athletic excellence pre-Olympic spotlight,” she said proudly.
