THE seat negotiation process between the Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming state election must be resolved within the next few weeks.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the seat negotiation process should not be prolonged further as the state assembly is expected to be dissolved by the end of June.

“It is better for the seat negotiation between state PH and BN to be wrapped up earlier so that the various parties in the coalition and potential candidates can start preparing themselves for the state polls.

“Then, they don’t have to wait until the last moment,” he said when asked by a journalist about the progress of seat talks between PH and BN

Asked whether the parties involved would be ‘happy’ with the seat negotiation, Chow said he believed that no party would be satisfied.

“Penang has 40 state seats and the principle of seat talks needs to be considered under the spirit of the unity government,” he said.
