“We anticipate welcoming over 1,000 to 1,200 delegates from more than 20 countries, making this a vital international platform for the exchange of knowledge, the exploration of scientific breakthroughs, and the discussion of future directions in rehabilitation research, clinical practice, and policy,” said Dr Chung during a press conference at Komtar yesterday (July 31).

He added that the conference will feature a dynamic, multidisciplinary scientific programme with sessions covering cutting-edge topics, innovative technologies, and best practices in physical and rehabilitation medicine.

“One of the key highlights of AOCPRM 2025 is the first-ever Mandarin symposium in the conference’s history, aimed at broadening accessibility, encouraging regional participation, and fostering greater collaboration within the Asia-Oceanian rehabilitation community,” he said.

Also present at the press conference were Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran and AOCPRM 2025 committee member Dr Zetty Noreeta Mohd Rozali.

Wong highlighted the significance of hosting AOCPRM 2025 in Penang, saying it underscores the state’s growing influence as a top-tier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism.

“This congress will serve as a powerful catalyst for the growth of Penang’s high-value business tourism sector.

“It not only promotes academic exchange among global medical experts but also stimulates our broader economic ecosystem including hospitality, tourism services, and related industries,” Wong said.

He added that such events reinforce Penang’s position as a premier MICE destination in the Asia-Pacific region and support its long-term vision of becoming a hub for medical technology and health tourism.

“On behalf of the Penang government, I warmly welcome all delegates from around the world.

“May this congress, rich in knowledge, collaboration, and innovation, yield impactful outcomes for global rehabilitation medicine and mark a new chapter in Penang’s journey toward international prominence,” he concluded.
