NEWLY-APPOINTED state Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) director Mohd Nazri Yasmin is looking forward to working closely with the Penang government to minimise flood risk in the state.

Mohd Nazri started serving as the new state DID director on Feb 13 this year after taking over from former director Zainuddin Yusoff, who retired last March.

Mohd Nazri, who has been with the DID at the state and federal level for about 20 years, served several divisions and positions in DID, particularly in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur before coming to Penang as the director.

“My main priority as the new state DID director is to focus on several issues in Penang involving flood mitigation projects and drainage systems in the flood-prone areas.

“Such projects are important to ensure the well-being of the people.

“Thus, I hope to work together with the state government regarding this matter and receive their full support,” Mohd Nazri said during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar today.

Also present was state DID deputy director Ooi Soon Lee.

Chow welcomed Mohd Nazri as the new director of the state DID.

“We hope that the state government and DID can work closely for people’s benefit.

“We look forward to working with you,” he said.
