THE Penang government has announced that the Penang2030 Festival Komtar 2025 will take place on Oct 11 (Saturday), from 10am to 6pm, at level 3 and level 4 of Komtar.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the festival, themed “Astronomy,” promises an exciting line-up of educational, interactive, and entertaining programmes, aimed at engaging Penangites in the state’s development vision.

“As promised, this year’s Penang2030 Festival is being held in both the island and Seberang Perai, ensuring that all Penangites can share in the celebration and understand the core message of this vision,” Chow said.

The festival builds on the success of the July edition in Seberang Perai, which attracted over 8,000 visitors in conjunction with Heritage Day.

The turnout, Chow said, reflected strong public support for the state’s development agenda.

Back in Komtar this October, the festival is jointly organised by the Penang2030 Unit under the Chief Minister’s Office, Penang Island City Council (MBPP), Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), Tech Dome Penang, and the Penang Green Council (PGC), with support from various state agencies and departments.

“This synergy reflects the strength of collaboration in connecting government policies with the people, and in making the Penang2030 vision a truly inclusive effort,” Chow said.

Among the highlights are planetarium explorations, space exhibitions, a children’s science-and-astronomy themed costume competition, free tours of Tech Dome, and visits to MBPP’s CCTV Control Centre.

The “Rentak Belia Talent Show” will also provide a stage for young talents, alongside workshops and community-driven activities.

Other attractions include green workshops, batik and science workshops, upcycling activities, a children’s colouring contest, and a fire simulation exercise with the Fire and Rescue Department.

“These programmes reflect the state government’s continuous effort to nurture a culture of knowledge, promote innovation, strengthen urban safety, and encourage environmental sustainability,” Chow explained.

Since its inception in 2024, the Penang2030 Festival has grown into an iconic state event that not only serves as a celebration but also a bridge between government policies and the people.

“The festival is a manifestation of our ongoing commitment to ensure that the Penang2030 Vision – A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation, is translated into the daily lives of the people,” Chow said.

He added that the event represents the government’s commitment to inclusivity in development, involving all Penangites regardless of age, race, or background.

“This proves that every policy we craft is not abstract, but brings real impact to the wellbeing, unity, and quality of life of Penangites.

“I warmly welcome all Penangites to join us in Komtar on Oct 11 to enliven the Penang2030 Festival.

“Let us make this not just a platform for learning and entertainment, but also a symbol of the people’s participation in realising Penang’s aspirations,” Chow said.
