A HEARTFELT and inspiring series of short videos showcasing the real-life impact of the Penang2030 vision was officially launched by the state government today.

Titled ‘Penang2030: Seiring Sehati’, the series comprises 12 short films, each portraying true stories of Penangites from diverse backgrounds — from fishermen to entrepreneurs, homemakers to youth — whose lives have been significantly transformed through the implementation of policies and initiatives under the Penang2030 roadmap.

Among the most touching stories featured is that of a family who lost their home due to severe coastal erosion. With support from the Penang government, they were able to secure affordable housing, which has since become a symbol of hope and a fresh start for them.

Another compelling narrative follows a rural woman who lost her job but managed to rebuild her life by launching a soy sauce and condiment business. With assistance from state initiatives, she now supports her family independently and has become a source of pride for her loved ones.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, during a press conference at Komtar today, described the video series as a meaningful initiative that documents the experiences of Penangites from all walks of life, reflecting the tangible results of the Penang2030 vision.

“These videos cover a wide range of critical areas such as welfare, housing, local governance, institutional reform, tourism, infrastructure, Islamic development, youth and sports, agriculture, education, and entrepreneurship.

“The stories portrayed not only affirm the effectiveness of state policies but also build a new narrative that everyone, regardless of background, deserves a second chance and a brighter future,” Chow said.

Chow also explained that the production process took approximately three months, involving data collection, respondent selection, filming, and post-production work.

Reflecting on the journey since Penang2030 was introduced in 2018, Chow emphasised that the vision is more than just a strategic roadmap; it is a solemn promise by the state government to the people.

“It is a vision rooted in shared prosperity, sustainability, social well-being, and inclusivity.

“To some, it may have once seemed like a distant, abstract ambition. But I want to stress that Penang2030 is not political rhetoric.

“It is now a lived reality, one that is shaping daily life, from social policy and economic development to improvements in public infrastructure, education, healthcare, digital innovation, and community welfare,” he said.

Chow also extended his heartfelt gratitude to all individuals who courageously shared their personal journeys, as well as to government departments and agencies that provided essential data and cooperation throughout the project.

“Without the support and collaboration of everyone involved, the Penang2030 vision could not have been brought to life in such a deeply moving and meaningful way.

“Ultimately, Penang2030 doesn’t belong only to the state government. It is our shared aspiration and a legacy we are building for future generations,” he concluded.
