Penang’s Nemesis-X Assassins bag Grand Champion title and Robotic awards in Australia

THE Nemesis-X Assassins have made Penang and Malaysia proud by clinching the Overall Champion’s Award Gold (Grand Champion) and securing second place in the Best Robotic Performance Award at the recent Asia Pacific Open Championship – FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge (FLL) 2025 – held at Macquarie University in Sydney.

 

Comprising nine students from different schools across Penang, the team, united by a shared passion for STEM engineering and robotics, competed in the prestigious tournament that attracted 59 teams from 22 countries. The tournament, held from July 3 to 6, carried the theme “Submerged.”

 

The participants came from Australia, the United States, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, China, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, South Africa, Romania, Turkey, Honduras, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, Vietnam, and more.

Superb teamwork propels the Malaysian team to victory.

 

In the highly competitive arena, the Malaysian team distinguished itself through exceptional teamwork, innovative design thinking, and consistent performance on stage, ultimately rising to the top.

 

This remarkable achievement marks the first time since 2017 that Malaysia has once again claimed the overall championship title at an FLL international event — an accomplishment of great national significance.

 

The Nemesis-X Assassins had previously earned second runner-up at the 2024 Malaysia FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge National Open Championship, which led to their selection to represent Malaysia at this international competition in Australia.
