PHI and foodpanda team up to help Ramadan traders

WITH the country still under the movement control order (MCO) and the Ramadan about to begin in a week’s time, the Penang Halal International (PHI) has partnered with foodpanda for the Ramadan traders to sell their food through Ramadan E-Bazaar.

State Domestic and International Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the initiative between PHI, which is a subsidiary of Penang Development Corporation, and foodpanda would benefit the traders during the fasting month.

“During the MCO, I believe that the Ramadan E-Bazaar will provide an economic opportunity to all our traders and it will be implemented following the guidelines from the National Security Council,” Abdul Halim said after handing over face masks, gloves and hand sanitisers to foodpanda representatives at Komtar today.

“By partnering with an established and experienced food delivery company such as foodpanda, it will further promote Penang Halal International’s mission in ‘Halal & Toyyiban (Hygiene) Lifestyle’ among the business community,” Abdul Halim said.

“The collaboration aims at enabling businesses to continue serving the consumers via digital solution.

“We would like to encourage Penangites to stay home and stay safe while having their Ramadan delicacies delivered to their homes.”

Traders or restaurant owners who are interested to come on board the Ramadan E-Bazaar can visit the website (https://forms.gle/9MyRi3qnwtV88VLBA) and register themselves.
