Plastic product manufacturing company produces PPE for frontliners

A PLASTIC product manufacturing company has been producing personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare frontliners as part of its corporate social responsibility.

 

GB Plas Sdn Bhd operation manager Jazmine Gooi said the company felt the need to lend a hand.

 

“PPE is not our main product but we feel that we need to play our role to help the community and the frontliners. We play our part to assist our medical frontliners in the battle against the Covid-19.

 

“We produce Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) face shield, adjustable face shield, aerosol box, automated mobile sanitation station, sneeze guard and hand sanitiser.

 

“These supplies are donated to hospitals and clinics in Penang,” she told Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during his visit to the factory at Bukit Panchor Industrial Estate, Nibong Tebal today.

 

Also present were Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud.

 

The team was welcomed by GB Plas general manager Cindy Low and its technical manager Chai Kean An.

 

Chow praised the company for its assistance and contributions.

 

“We hope that the company can inspire more companies to contribute during this challenging period,” he said.

 

Chow and his team also toured the production area of the plant.

 

At the end of the visit, the company donated some 360 PETG face shields to the Penang government.

 

Established in 2003, GB Plas Sdn Bhd is one of the world leading manufacturers and exporters of high-quality extruded plastic sheets. It has two plants in Penang.

 

Some of the main products include Acrylic sheets (PMMA), Polycarbonate sheets (PC), General Purpose Polystyrene sheets(GPPS) and Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP).
