A POLICE report was lodged by Major (R) Zaidi Ahmad, special communications officer to the Penang Chief Minister, at the Northeast

district police station in Jalan Patani on April 12.

“The report was made in reference to a false tweet in the name of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that read: ‘Dr Zakir Naik need to be

checked. I will ensure he is not allowed entry into Penang. The people need to reject and chase away religious extremists like him’.

“The twitter message was sent on April 11

at 5.52pm,” Zaidi said.

Zaidi was accompanied by state co-ordinator

for Equitable Economic Agenda & Special Duty Ab Wahab Long and representatives from several non-governmental organisations at the

press conference held in front of the Jalan Petani police station.

Meanwhile, Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman Dr P. Ramasamy was quoted as asking the Penang government not to allow

Zakir to give a talk on “Misconceptions About Islam” at the Penang Caring Society Complex.
