THE Penang Signature Gold, Gems and Jewellery Fair (PSG) 2025, now in full swing, is set to unite about 85% of Malaysia’s gold industry players, said state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.
Wong noted that this year’s edition is expected to draw over 5,000 professional buyers and delegates from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and other countries.

“This vibrant exchange will not only unlock new business opportunities but also inject fresh momentum into Penang’s position as an international hub for trade and collaboration,” he said at today’s opening ceremony.

Running from Aug 15 to 17 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Lepas, PSG 2025 features over 120 exhibition booths, with participants from China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Thailand, Singapore, India, Japan, and Malaysia, underscoring the fair’s truly global profile.
As a premier sourcing and business expansion platform, the fair showcases a full spectrum of the industry, from gold, fine jewellery, and gemstones to precious metals, specialised machinery, equipment, and innovative packaging solutions. It offers a comprehensive look at the diversity, artistry, and technological advancements shaping the sector.
Wong also highlighted the state’s expanding aviation connectivity.
“Since August 2023, Penang has added 14 new international direct flights and three new domestic routes.
“Penang has emerged as the aviation hub not only for Northern Malaysia, but also for Northern Sumatra as a transit point to other international destinations.
“The growing air links from the Middle East, India, Greater China, and Southeast Asia will further boost international trade including the gold and jewellery sector,” he said.
Wong added that PSG 2025 is more than just an industry gathering, it is a golden opportunity to gain insights into the pulse of the global gold market and seize the opportunities ahead.
Also present during the opening ceremony today were Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Syn Tze, Bagan Jermal assemblyman Chee Yeeh Keen, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran, Elite Expo Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Johnson Lim and Penang Goldsmith and Jewellers Association (PGJA) president Datuk Ivan Chee.
