MEMBERS of the public and good Samaritans are invited to take part in the upcoming Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Penang Chapter Charity Food Fair 2025, which will be held at the Chai Leng Park multipurpose hall on Nov 16 (Sunday) from 9am to 1.30pm.
Carrying the meaningful theme ‘Your Contribution Could Be Someone’s Lifeline’, the annual fundraising event aims to support the 24-hour ambulance services operated by the MRCS Penang Chapter.
Organising chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kah Keong said the main objective of the event is to raise funds to maintain and operate the Chapter’s emergency ambulance fleet.

“This includes ensuring that our ambulances remain efficient, reliable, and available to anyone in need.
“We have set an ambitious target of raising over RM300,000 this year. With the strong support of our community, I am confident we can achieve and perhaps even surpass this goal,” Dr Tan said at a press conference held at the MRCS Penang Chapter headquarters in Grove Road today.
Dr Tan also revealed that the MRCS Penang Chapter requires around RM800,000 annually to maintain its 14 ambulances operating across all districts in Penang.
“This charity food fair is part of our continuous effort to raise funds through various initiatives such as charity fairs, annual dinners, and other fundraising programmes,” he added.
Also present at the press conference were MRCS Penang Chapter vice-chairman II Chow Thian Pow and secretary Ong Seng Suan.
According to Dr Tan, this year’s fair will feature 60 stalls, offering a wide selection of food and non-food items contributed by generous supporters and volunteers.
“To add excitement, visitors can look forward to a lucky draw with attractive prizes, including a motorcycle as the grand prize, as well as electrical appliances and hotel vouchers.
“The MRCS Penang Chapter Charity Food Fair has long been one of our signature events.
“Beyond the delicious food and cheerful atmosphere, it embodies the true spirit of community, bringing together people from all walks of life in support of a noble cause,” Dr Tan said.
Dr Tan also encouraged the public to attend the fair with their family and friends.
“Come for the food, fun, and fellowship and know that your presence makes a difference. As our theme reminds us, ‘Your Contribution Could Be Someone’s Lifeline.’
“Together, we can ensure that our ambulances keep running, our volunteers keep serving, and our mission of humanity continues to reach those who need it most,” he concluded.
