Spreading love this Hari Raya

ANY festival is all about sharing love and breaking the gap to create togetherness, and during this year’s Hari Raya festival, a group of diversified friends came together to raise RM10,000 to prepare 1,000 packs of vegetarian meals for frontliners and senior citizens.

Dr Kuah Li Feng, who had led the group, said the places they covered include the Penang Hospital, Masjid Lebuh Acheh, Penang Home for the Infirm and Aged, Lam Wah Ee Hospital and Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged.

They covered the places in four days, from May 1 to 4.

“Since 2016, some 100 friends and I have been distributing free food packets for the needy, especially during festival seasons.

“The reason we do this is to spread goodwill and bring some cheer for the people, especially those who are less fortunate and our frontliners who work day and night, sacrificing their time with their families for us.

“This year, we managed to raise RM10,000, and it was used to prepare 1,000 packs of vegetarian meals,” Kuah told Buletin Mutiara during an exclusive interview recently.

Separately, although due to Covid-19 and its restrictions imposed earlier, Kuah and her friends still contributed food packets to hospitals and charitable bodies throughout Penang.
