SPORTS is a unifying force, says Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon.

“What better way than to use futsal, which is popular among Malaysians, to show off their skills and walk away with amazing prizes this tournament has to offer.

“I was informed that they will be having a total of RM18,000 cash and prizes,” he said at a press conference to announce the 4th KBJ Futsal Tournament Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon Cup 2019 at

Kompleks Bukit Jambul (KBJ) on May 14.

Also present were KBJ (MOC) chairman K.H. Chan and KBJ Joint Management Body committee member Harry Toh.

Rashid, a former Penang Deputy Chief Minister I, said he would like to see the young participate in this kind of healthy games and interact among each other positively as they strive to emerge champions.

“There will be a lucky draw contest where contestants will have the chance to walk away with an exclusive football and KBJ limited jersey autographed by me,” he said, adding that he envisioned e-sports to be held at KBJ in the near future.

Chan said the Futsal Open League was one of KBJ’s signature events and a highlight of the KBJ calendar year.

“This year, we are targeting 48 teams with the participants from all around the country to compete in this league. There will be no age limit and all female players are also welcome to join in the fun too.”

The tournament is open to all nationality regardless of age. Participants will receive a goodie bag each. The preliminary round will be held on July 6 at 8.30am and the final round on July 7.

Chan said there would also be a food carnival during the event and an online football game, penalty shoot special game session, special gifts and meet the football idol session.
