STREETS near residential areas in Taman Tun Sardon and Sungai Gelugor are now glowing with festive cheer, illuminated by hundreds of decorative lights in anticipation of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Seri Delima assemblyman Connie Tan Hooi Peng said a total of 650 decorative lights have been installed across both areas.

“The objective is to enhance the festive spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the community level while creating a more vibrant and joyful environment.
“This programme has officially entered its third year and is now becoming an annual Hari Raya tradition in Seri Delima.
“This initiative is sponsored by DS Asia Group, with a total project cost of approximately RM25,000.
“It is truly a wonderful initiative. Following the installation, we received many compliments and positive feedback from residents, who shared how happy they are that the festive atmosphere has been further enhanced ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“We hope this initiative can continue to be organised every year with the support of sponsors. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all residents in the Seri Delima constituency a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” she told Buletin Mutiara during the lighting-up ceremony held in front of Masjid At-Taqwa in Taman Tun Sardon this evening.
Also present were Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Visvenathan Tangavello, and DS Asia Group representative Lok Chan Chuan.
Meanwhile, Ramkarpal commended Tan for her efforts and expressed his appreciation to DS Asia Group for their continued support.
“This is not the first time DS Asia Group has sponsored such initiatives. They have also contributed to similar projects during other festive seasons, such as Chinese New Year.
“Contributions like these are deeply appreciated by the people of Bukit Gelugor and the wider community, especially during the month of Ramadan in Seri Delima, particularly in Taman Tun Sardon and Sungai Gelugor,” he said.
