“This (laptop) is the most fundamental tool for our students to be digitally literate.

“And our sponsor, Greatech always believes everyone should have a fair chance to learn and this programme is for needy schools.

“Some of the recipients are schools that have less than 100 students.

“Besides that, we also want to focus on schools in Seberang Perai as well as the southwest district,” Khoo said during his speech at the event.

At the event, Greatech Technology Berhad, which was represented by its HR A section manager Teoh Sok Ning, presented a mock cheque for RM100,000 to Penang Education Council manager Fatimah Hassan.

It is learned that the contribution was to help needy Tamil school students to learn and pursue STEM-related programmes.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, who was the chief guest at the launching ceremony of the ‘Digital Literacy Empowerment’ at Tech Dome Penang today, said that knowledge is to be pursued and not to be waited upon.

Concurrently, a total of 120 students from four schools (SK Bakap Indah, SJKC Permatang Tinggi, SJKT Ladang Cangkat and SJKT Ladang Sempah) also participated in the ‘Innovative Raya Torch Workshop’ at Tech Dome Penang today.
