PHOTO enthusiasts, rejoice! The Penang Heritage Photography Fiesta 4.0 is currently underway at The Whiteaways Arcade, Beach Street, George Town, offering the public a vibrant showcase of artistry and storytelling through the lens.

Running from Aug 4 to 23, the professional photography exhibition features 70 finalist entries from its competition, alongside 30 captivating works by two distinguished professional photographers.

Jointly organised by PPB Group Berhad and its property division PPB Properties, in collaboration with SONY Malaysia, the fiesta is also supported by Penang Hill Corporation, Penang Green Council, and the George Town Festival.

According to PPB Group Berhad, this year’s shortlisted entries come from two categories – a youth category (ages 15 to 25) and an open category for all ages. The finalists were selected from 229 submissions, making the exhibition a true reflection of Penang’s thriving photographic talent.

“One of the key highlights is a special showcase of 15 curated works by renowned photojournalist David ST Loh, who offers his interpretation of this year’s theme. Also featured is Kiah Ng, a SONY Alpha Guru, who brings nature to life through a collection of 15 stunning bird photographs.

“Centred around capturing Penang’s green heritage and natural beauty, this year’s theme aims to capture the often-forgotten natural biodiversity in the dynamic state.

“Both the competition and exhibition aim to raise awareness and spotlight the environmental issues faced by Penang’s inhabitants, as well as its diverse indigenous flora and fauna.

“By displaying the images for the public to enjoy, the exhibition hopes to inspire a deeper appreciation for Penang’s natural beauty, raise awareness on ecological issues and support our very own artistic homegrown talents, especially the younger generation,” the statement read.

As a finale, all finalists will see their works projected on the big screen at GSC Gurney Plaza during the closing ceremony on Aug 23, where the winners will also be announced and prizes awarded.
