Toray contributes to society through innovation & new technology

CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow and his wife Tan Lean Kee visited the main production facility of Toray Penfabric Sdn Bhd at Seberang Perai Industrial Park today.

During their visit, Toray representatives played a video clip which highlighted the background and manufacturing process of the company.

The video clip provided information on the multinational status of Toray Group with its headquarters in Tokyo. Its core business dealing is in fibers and textiles, plastics as well as chemicals.

“Toray is contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies and products,” said Toray Group (Malaysia) chief representative and Toray Industries Malaysia and Penfabric managing director Teh Hock Soon.

“We strive to create products and technology that improve the safety, security and quality of people’s lives.”

Teh also briefed Chow and his wife on their global business network, sales by business segment, products and end-users, penfabric water consumption trend and also business expansion projects in the upcoming five years.

The Toray Group in Malaysia has 11 subsidiary companies with more than 3,500 employees.

Chow and the Toray management also exchanged ideas on ways of managing a business.

After their discussion, Chow and his wife led by Teh and other board members toured the Toray factory premises.

The site visit included areas such as Research & Development (R&D), IP gallery, aquarium, sales and the sample room.

Also present were state Domestic and International Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entreprenuerial Development Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussein, Berapit assemblyman Heng Lee Lee, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik, investPenang director Datuk Seri Lee Kah Choon and chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian.
