GLOBAL technology leader Trensor Co. Ltd, renowned for its expertise in the automotive sector, has chosen Penang as its strategic gateway into Southeast Asia.
The company marked this milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony at Penang Technology Park@Bertam today, heralding the construction of its first manufacturing facility in the region.

Trensor Co. Ltd chairman Zhou Jingxun announced that the Penang plant represents a capital investment of approximately RM100 million.
“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony marks a new milestone for Trensor, as we witness the launch of the company’s first manufacturing facility in Penang.
“With an estimated investment of RM100 million, the upcoming four-storey facility, covering 10,000sq m, is expected to create 200 skilled jobs and generate over RM200 million in annual sales.
“It will focus on the production of automotive pressure sensors for export to markets such as North America and Europe.
“This investment will contribute to strengthening Penang’s electrical and electronics industry (E&E), anchoring Penang as a hub for precision engineering, automotive electronics, and high-value manufacturing,” Zhou said in his speech today.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who officiated the groundbreaking ceremony, commended Trensor for the significant milestone.

“As we mark these important milestones, Penang remains firmly committed to continuous improvements.
“To strengthen its position as a hub for advanced manufacturing, the state government continues to prioritise the attraction of companies with strong, long-term commitments to sustainable investment.
“In this regard, the state government commends Trensor for its dedication to continuously evolving to support next-generation technologies, reinforcing Penang’s standing in the global advanced manufacturing landscape.
“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of an important new chapter for Trensor Electronics in Penang.
“Through the ongoing collaboration between the Penang government and industry partners, we can identify key areas of growth, bringing mutual benefits for everyone,” said Chow.
He also reiterated the state government’s commitment through InvestPenang, to supporting industrial players like Trensor and driving initiatives that elevate the state’s position in the global value chain.
“I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) for their synergistic efforts in supporting industrial players and promoting continuous initiatives to bring the state upwards in the global value chain.
“Once again, I congratulate Trensor Electronics on this groundbreaking ceremony.
“We look forward to working closely together to further enhance Penang’s dynamic ecosystem, reinforcing our reputation as the Silicon Valley of the East and ensuring positive economic contributions for Malaysia,” he added.
Also present during the groundbreaking ceremony were Penang Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, Mida Penang director Muhammad Ghaddaffi Sardar Mohamed, and Trensor Electronics Sdn Bhd general manager Zhou Wenbo.
