PENANG is once again at the heart of a major international gathering as the V-Convention Malaysia 2025 officially opened its doors today at the Setia SPICE Arena.
The five-day event, running until June 25, has drawn more than 8,000 participants from over 50 countries, highlighting Penang’s rising status as a global hub for business and tourism.
Representing the Penang government, Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo warmly welcomed the international delegates and hailed the occasion as a significant milestone for the state.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Penang, I extend our warmest welcome to all participants who have travelled here from across the globe to be part of this exceptional event,” he said during the opening ceremony.
Jagdeep also expressed gratitude to the organisers and supporting agencies, including QNET, V Global Management, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Tourism Malaysia, and various partners and sponsors, for making the convention a reality.
“I am truly inspired by the scale, the spirit, and the incredible energy this convention brings. Seeing such a dynamic community converge here in Penang speaks volumes about the strength of the network and the shared aspirations that connect people from across the world,” he added.
He further noted that Penang’s appeal as a destination extends beyond its historical charm.
“With modern infrastructure and growing international connectivity, Penang continues to thrive as a premier destination for both leisure and business tourism.
“Between 2023 and 2024, Penang International Airport recorded nearly seven million passenger movements, a remarkable 64% increase from the previous year. It’s clear that our tourism sector is rebounding strongly,” said Jagdeep.
He emphasised the far-reaching economic benefits that large-scale conventions bring, especially in stimulating the local economy and creating jobs in sectors such as hospitality and event management.
To the international delegates, Jagdeep offered words of encouragement: “To all entrepreneurs, visionaries, and change-makers present, this convention is your platform. Let these five days be a transformative journey—one where you forge new partnerships, grow your expertise, and elevate your purpose.”
The V-Convention is a flagship annual event renowned for its high-energy atmosphere, leadership talks, business showcases, and networking opportunities that span industries and continents. This year’s edition is poised to be one of the largest and most impactful yet.
